Obituary for WILLIAM G. FERSTEL, JR.

William G. Ferstel, Jr.

William G. Ferstel, Jr., 87, of New Iberia, Louisiana, formerly a resident of Orland Park for nearly 20 years, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2006, at his residence.

Born in Chicago on October 12, 1918, he graduated from DePaul University Law School in 1942 and served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Before his retirement in 1963, he was a personal injury attorney for over thirty years. His survivors include his only son, John W. Ferstel, and his daughter-in-law and devoted caregiver, Gina Lee Chamberlain Ferstel, both of New Iberia, his granddaughter, Sarah D. Ferstel, of Tallahassee, Florida, his brother, James L. Ferstel, of Chicago, his sister Geraldine Reising, of Mount Prospect, and his brother-in-law, Robert de St. Aubin, of Berlin, Wisconsin. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Jane de St. Aubin Ferstel, his second wife, Julie Smerko Ferstel, and his sister, Marie Sokal. His grandfather, Johann Baptist Ferstl, of Lupburg, Germany, and his grandmother, Augusta Marie Grau Ferstl, of Beratzhausen, Germany, migrated with his father to the United States in 1887.

Visitation will be from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and from 8 a.m. until time of prayers at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the Robert J. Sheehy & Sons Funeral Home, 9000 W. 151st Street, Orland Park, Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael Church, 14327 Highland Ave., Orland Park. Interment will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Evergreen Park.
