Beloved husband and best friend of 63 years to Joan Korpics (nee Thomiszer).
Devoted father of Mike (Kathy) Korpics, Cathy (Charlie) Schoen, Carol (Bill) Wittenberg, John (Dawn) Korpics, and Joanie (Mike) D’Astice.
Proud grandfather of John (Colleen), Brian, Jackie (Paul), Mark (Liz), Ben (Alex), Tom (Adi), Jim (Lindsey), Jake, Kate, Mary, Anna (Pat), Charlie (Rachel), Cay, Luke (Maddie), Jessica, Dan, Dave, Christina (Dan), Amanda, Sarah.
Adored great grandfather of Alex, Ellie, Will, Mae, Dylan, Addie, and Charlie.
Loving brother of Maryann (the late Ray) Janisch, and the late Frank (the late Denise) Korpics.
Dear uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Born to Frank and Mary Korpics and raised in Chicago. Graduated from St. Philomena Elementary to Old St. Michael’s High School. He graduated undergraduate from DePaul with a degree in Chemistry, and received a Phd in Organic Chemistry from the University of Kentucky. Met his best friend and wife-to-be at a halloween party. When apart, they exchanged daily letters. They were engaged on Easter; he put a ring on her corsage. They were married the following October at St. Philomena, in Chicago IL. For a short time they lived at the University of Kentucky while he finished his degree. They welcomed their first son, Mike in 1957. Author of more than a dozen patents, Chuck was employed by Standard Oil, which became Amoco Chemical where he served as a rocket scientist as part of the war effort. Their second child, Cathy, was born and they lived on the south side of Chicago. She was soon followed by Carol, John, and Joanie. The family moved to Toledo, OH when Chuck got a job at Maumee Chemicals, later known as Sherwin Williams. He was transferred back to Chicago 10 years later and the family settled in Orland Park, IL. Chuck and Joan were active members of various ministries at St. Michael’s parish. He retired from Borden Chemical after a 40 year career in Chemistry. In his retirement he enjoyed spending time in Ft. Myers, Florida, fishing on Rock Creek in Kankakee, and spending time with his 5 children, 20 grandchildren (each welcomed with a bottle of champagne to mark the occasion), and 7 great-grandchildren. He never missed an important family event, near or far. He served as the Master of Ceremonies at the annual Korpics Thanksgiving Extravaganzas which included head referee at the family football games. He and Joan brought the entire family on a trip to Turks and Caicos for their 50th wedding anniversary, several family reunions to the Outer Banks, North Carolina, and most recently this past summer to Cassapolis, Michigan. He often served as First Mate on his son’s sailboat and would welcome the crew returning from the Mackinac Island Race. He greatly enjoyed two trips to rural Canada for some fishing with his sons and grandsons. Master of sangria and bloody marys for the whole family. He lived life to the fullest, loving and caring for his family and friends, and served as an exceptional role model to all who knew him. He was often heard to say how very lucky he was, but really it was all who loved and knew him that were the lucky ones. While we will miss him greatly, we will all strive to live up to his legacy.
