Obituary for Linda M. Livesay

Livesay, Linda M. (nee Mann) Age 68

Devoted mother of Andrew Livesay, Elizabeth (Jennell) Livesay, Matthew (Rachael) Livesay.
Proud grandmother of Reed, Nora, Evan, Elliot, Kodiak, Gemini and baby Livesay.
Loving sister of Norma, Barbara, Bob, Patty, the late Sandy, Charlie and Richard.
Cherished Aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Throughout her life, Linda physically and spiritually embodied the archetype of a strong, independent woman. She worked from an early age as a hairdresser with her sisters. Once married Linda became a mother of three, while at the same time attending college to become a teacher. Balancing motherhood and her teaching career, Linda earned a master’s degree from Governors State University in school administration. Prior to retiring, Linda was a schoolteacher for 23 years in Annunciata, Country Club Hills, and Calumet City. She helped brighten and shape the lives of more than 1,000 children. As a teacher Linda understood the importance of her impact and generously gave of her time and resources. With her friends and family, she was a person who always sought to help in any way, often in the form of providing home-cooked dishes (usually in mass quantity). She was a loving, generous person with a passion for her grandchildren, cooking, movies, playing games, holiday events, and dining out with friends and family. She will be remembered as a spirited board game and card player, with her own style of exaggerated expressions and competitive banter that brought those who played with her immense joy and laughter. As a teacher, mother, grandmother, and friend, Linda was always a natural storyteller who relished in engaging others in her animated life stories. If any family or friends should desire to provide any contributions, please make them to the Children’s Literacy Initiative ( in her honor.
