Preceded into death by her parents John and Anna Koch (nee O’Malley).
Ruth was a devoted sister to the late Lorraine (the late James) Burke, William (the late Alice) and (the late Mary Ann) Koch.
Dear aunt too many “snot-nosed kids” including Judy (Frank) Reichenberger, Barbara (the late Ronald) Smeatham, Janet (Bernie) Bukowiecki, Jack (Lynn) Burke, Thomas (Anita) Koch, John Koch, Ann Koch, and Mary Terese (Dan) Johnston.
Dear great-aunt to Lynda (Michael) Gacek, Dan (Laura) Reichenberger, Michael Smeatham, Debra Smeatham, Angela (Kevin) Oliver, Alan Bukowiecki, James Burke, and Jennifer Burke.
Dear great, great-aunt to even more “snot-nosed kids”!
Ruth served as a WAVE during WWII, working on the Bombe Project. Ruth always said joining the Navy was the best decision she ever made. After the war she returned home, working at Illinois Bell for forty plus years. She was a proud member of the CWA and Illinois Bell Pioneers. Ruth was a volunteer for many organizations throughout her life. Ruth had an active retirement, moving to Schaumburg and later the Devonshire Retirement Community in Hoffman Estates where she was cared for by the Personal Living Staff and her caregiver Bernadette Ting. Ruth sadly lost her five plus years battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Ruthie had a laughter that made people smile. Friend and confidant to so many, Ruthie was a joy to be around. Her time spent with family was the center of her world; hosting holidays, traveling together, and summering in Twin Lakes were her happiest times. Ruth Koch is an example of how we all should live life; with kindness, enthusiasm, a smile, and candy.
