Obituary for Warren R. Johnson

Johnson, Warren R. Age 93

Warren Roger Johnson, (aka Rog, Grandpa, Gramps, Great Grandpa, Dad), entered eternal perfection and peace, where he was reunited with his beloved Joanne on Saturday, May 21 2022. Those who loved him feel his absence deeply, but rejoice that he is held eternally by Jesus and we will see him again.
Roger knew that he gifted each of his three children with unique parts of his spirit that will live on long after he is gone. His oldest, Steven Johnson (husband of Ellen Johnson), he gifted with faithful stewardship and steadfastness, his dear daughter Karen Rice (wife of Tim Rice) with his unmatched kindness and warmth, and his youngest son, Paul Johnson (husband of Sharon Johnson), with his youthful spirit and penchant for fun. Roger also lives on in his 4 grandchildren (Christen, Josh, Jesse, and Matthew) and 10 great grandchildren (Gabe, Michael, Kevin, Nikki, Kaylen, Levi, Kaylee, Sam, Keyder and Halle), who will fondly remember his lustrous white hair, inviting smile, and cozy sweatpants.
While Roger’s family was the focus of his life there are other important facets worth noting. He was proud of his 11 years of service as a Naval Aircrewman in the US Naval Reserves. Later in life he would relive those days attending airshows and hoping to catch a glimpse of the PB4Y-2 (B-24) in which he had flown. He was a respected business owner and leader within the Outdoor Advertising industry and was known for his honesty and integrity. He loved his work and even after he ‘officially’ retired at the age of 82, he dabbled here and there helping colleagues with their sales efforts.
All who knew him will unknowingly and abundantly live in the rich inheritance of his prayers, as he lived and taught Philippians 4:6-7. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

As we remember him, we will toast in a truly “Roger” way—we will all sit like birds in the wilderness waiting for a Swedish pancake rolled up with melted butter and sugar, a heavily buttered biscuit, or an extra scoop of ice cream and enjoy the greatest gifts in this life – the love of Jesus, the blessing of family, and the hope of eternity.
