Obituary for Louise C. Bowers Davis

Bowers Davis, Louise C.
Today we remember the life of our sweet mother, Louise C. Bowers Davis. Louise was born March 5, 1931 and went to her eternal home March 19, 2022 surrounded by her loving children. She was a kind, gentle and thoughtful woman who loved others unconditionally. Her favorite activity was spending time with her family and singing church hymns. She dedicated her life to caring for others with a servant’s heart and never asked for anything in return. When her daughter asked “What’s the first thing you’re going to ask God?” her reply was “What’s my next purpose?” The answer shows her heart beautifully. She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Paul C Davis; her husband of 16 years, Jim Bowers; her son-in-law, Patrick Houlahan; and her daughter-in-law, Lori Davis.
She is survived by her brother, Gordon (Sara) Clem, and sister, Doris (Roger) Fricke; her children: Paula Eilese Jandura (Albert), Fred Davis (Debbie), Michael Davis, Stacy Milen (Michael), Kristie White (Dale), Rhonda Houlahan (Ray Padron), Charlotte Houlahan (Roy), Katie Bradley (Rod), stepdaughter Nannette Bowers and dear nephew Stephen Davis.
The joy that she and Paul celebrated in their children and grandchildren was immeasurable. Her 17 grandchildren include Laranda, Randy, Tiffany, Paul, Joe, Laura, Stephen, Sarah, Elizabeth, Mandy, Hannah, Sophia, Wesley, Kate, Lisa, Corey, and Kristen. The memories they have will be treasured for their lifetime. Her 24 great-grandchildren include Hunter, Hailey, Holden, Haven, Emmalea, Cheyenne, Austin, Autumn, Vanessa, Janet, Theo, Madeline, Isabelle, Finn, Brooklyn, Korben, Lincoln, Maddox, Kase, Ashley, Victoria, Nicky, Megan, and Caden. She was blessed with two great-great-grandsons, Joseph and Grayson. In addition, Rachel Li and Jim Donahue whom she “adopted” when she moved to Texas.
Louise and Paul started their life together in Ooltewah, TN and moved to Illinois. They built their family home in Posen. She loved singing and often sang solos at church. She was active in the PTA for 32 years, earning three lifetime memberships. She was a lifetime member of the VFW and cooked up a successful business for herself making delicious wedding and event cakes. Louise enjoyed many hobbies including being an avid bowler, gardener, an excellent southern cook, canning vegetables, and making delicious jams. She was very creative and loved to draw. She took pride in the fact that she made so many of her children’s clothes and crocheted baby blankets by the dozens for grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many other babies through the years.
Louise enjoyed travelling, especially Alaska and Hawaii. We are all certain that this chapter will be her greatest adventure. Louise, the original earth mother, taught her children, friends, and neighbors about nature, babies, caring for others, and countless life lessons. The greatest lesson of all was teaching her own family unconditional love for each other.
Please join us in celebrating her life by doing what she did best. Show kindness to others and love your family well.
The family would like to thank Carla, Kira, Misty, Sarah, Valeria, Keren, Karen and Tamika for the tender care they gave so lovingly.
