Obituary for Leslie A. "Leslie" Harter

Harter, Leslie A. “Leslie” 49 years, daughter of Kathlyn C. Harter “Kay” and the late Robert S. Harter “Rob”.

Beloved wife of Jeffery Lane.
Dear sister of Lori J. Anderson (James Woodburn).
Devoted aunt of Emily, Melanie and Lauren Anderson, Sarah, Samantha and Jake Lane.
Niece of Richard G. and Mary Patricia Harter, Josephine Harter and the late William Harter, Michael and Virginia Falvey.
Daughter-in-law of John C. and Catherine Lane.
Sister-in-law of Scott C. and Stacey Lane.
Fond cousin of Karen (Dennis Manyak), Elizabeth Harter (Marcelo Cosma), Jennifer (Jason) Kehl, Kimberly Manyak, Dennis Manyak Jr. (Christin), Lisa (Brian) Kukla, Sophia, Matthew and Michael Cosma, Mya Manyak, Brayden Kukla and an “honorary aunt” to many including, but not limited to William, Amanda, Carrie and Erin Olsen and Abbe, Gabbe and Jake Mullen.

Leslie was a graduate of St. Elizabeth Seton High School class of 1983, Illinois State University class of 1987 and The John Marshall Law School in 1993. Leslie was admitted to the Illinois Bar and to the Northern District of Illinois in 1993. She proudly served as judicial law clerk to the late Honorable Judge Albert Green, former Chief Judge of the Chancery Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County prior to serving as in-house Adjudication Services Counsel for the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission of the Supreme Court of Illinois. Leslie was also employed at several Chicago based law firms prior to her last position as Litigation Attorney for the Legal Services Group of the insurance company CNA. Early in her legal career, Leslie also taught Estates Wills & Trusts at Robert Morris College, and Legal Research & Writing at Roosevelt University in an adjunct capacity. Leslie was independent, thoughtful and witty. Leslie was proud to be Kay’s daughter as her Mom loved her unconditionally and taught Leslie that family also includes friends and their extended families. Leslie was proud she was Rob’s daughter as he was a Dad that believed in “girl power” long before it was fashionable. Leslie received much joy, laughter and strength from her friendships that she had throughout her lifetime and enjoyed traveling with her husband.
