Obituary for Judith "Judy" Josephine Radzik

Radzik, Judith “Judy” Josephine (nee Dykton)

Judith “Judy” Josephine (Dykton) Radzik, age 77 Manteno resident formerly of Richton Park, a native of Chicago’s Roseland neighborhood. Beloved wife of the late Edward Radzik. Loving mother of Gene (Irem), Michael (Sonya Keller), and Steve (Kimberly Bailey) Radzik. Grandmother of Miranda, Cody, Bobby, Jared, Deniz, Chase, Austin, Devrim, and Mason. Dearest cousin of the late Gloria “Peachie” Tokarz, Christine Maslowicz, Marylou Gricus, Marcia Pavola, and Joann Sled. Godmother of Dan Aklinski. Preceded in death by her dear parents Joseph and Josephine (nee Paulauski) Dykton and many Aunts, Uncles, and cousins. A lifelong childhood friend of Diane Senese. Member of the “Redwood Drive and South Walnut family” among the Klawitters, Petruseks, Rintouls, Austells, Dettmerings, and Starks. Honorary Grandma to Logan and Ivy. Founding member of the Tuesday Night Girl’s wine club including Donna Simmonds, Donna Hau, and Phyllis Huffman.

Judy was a survivor and Graduate of South Chicago Community Hospital Nursing School class of 1966 and a Registered Nurse at St. Francis Hospital Emergency Room in Blue Island for 40 years.

Judy lovingly cared for many family, friends, neighbors, and strangers. She was there in both good and bad times - without expectation. Judy celebrated the preciousness of life. She lived to make every day memorable by joining celebrations, baking tasty goodies, and making personalized ceramics to share with many. Her annual Paczki Day celebration brought together friends and family - old and new - for over 50 years.

Judy was an avid reader and international traveler. She was humble, joyful, strong, and generous beyond measure. Judy’s love knew no bounds.

A very special thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff at Silver Cross Hospital, University of Chicago Hospital, Riverside Medical Center, Nurse Mary “Rambo” Sinnott, Heartland Hospice of Frankfort, and her E.R. Care Team Family from St. Francis Hospital.
