Obituary for James C. Fitzmaurice

Fitzmaurice, James C. Age 67

Beloved Husband of 44 years to Lois (nee Kuenster).
Loving Father of James C. (Bridget), Michael (Katie), Patrick (Kelly) Fitzmaurice.
Cherished Papa of Grace, Jack, Ella, Danny, John, Dave, and Molly.
Dear Brother of Jean (Bill) Morrissette, Mary (John) Meskill, Cathy (Keith) Hooper, Michael (Jean) Fitzmaurice, Judy Fitzmaurice, Lorrie (Joe) Weber and John (Julie) Fitzmaurice.
Fond Uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Jim was born on September 12, 1952 in Evergreen Park, IL to James C. Sr. and Jean (Hughes) Fitzmaurice. He graduated from Brother Rice High School in 1970 and studied business at Northern Illinois (1970-74). His professional career began as the food service director and vice president of support services (1977-1990) for Holy Family Hospital before working in a food service sales position (1990-95) for Sodexho. Afterwards, he opened a business as a Farmers Insurance agent (1995-2016), working in that position for 22 years.
On April 5, 1975 he married Lois Kuenster. They raised three sons—James, Michael, and Patrick and are proud grandparents of seven.
As a family man, Jim wore the solemn robes of disciplinarian, teacher, and mentor and used humor as an escape valve, often noting that a person should never take himself too seriously.
The saving grace of life is a sense of humor, and the laughter created by Jim was a piece of his personality that made him special to all who knew him. Jim’s life, to be sure, was unique as well as distinctive. He was, for example, the oldest in a family of seven who looked upon him as an advisor, friend and beloved brother. He was a successful food service director, sales representative and business owner, but his greatest accomplishment was his family that extended as a brother, husband, father, papa, son, uncle, and cherished friend. Jim’s loyalty and love for those family members was the foundation of his compassionate, comical spirit.
