Obituary for Gerald R. Monnett

Gerald R. Monnett, 79 of Ocala, FL passed away on Sunday Dec 28th with his family by his side. Jerry was born in Evergreen Park, IL and served in the Marine Corps and was a retired Police Commissioner, Public Works Superintendent and an auto salvage worker and moved here in 2000 from Orland Park, IL. Jerry was instrumental in starting Pioneer Football program to Orland Park, he loved sports and helped coach whenever he could, and loved tinkering on cars. He is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years Shirley Monnett of Ocala, FL, 4 sons- Greg of Alsip, IL., Mark of Mokena, IL., Darren of Orland Park, IL., Richard of Minooka, IL., brother- Frank of Willowbrook, IL., sister- Sharon Rublee of Elgin, IL., 8 grandchildren- Kyle, Brendan, Alyssa, Jared, Jake, Antonio Cuevas, Graciela Cuevas and Zachary.

Memorial visitation Thursday, January 15, 2015, 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Robert J. Sheehy & Sons Funeral Home, 9000 W. 151st Street, Orland Park, IL.

Interment private

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P. O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675 in memory of Jerry.
