Obituary for Elizabeth Grant

Grant, Elizabeth Ann “Betty” (nee Faulkner) Age 89. Beloved wife of the late John F. “Jack” Grant (Ret. CFD).

With great sadness we announce the passing of Elizabeth A Grant on January 31, 2022 in the city of Chicago. Betty was a wise and loving person who was the proud matriarch to a large family that today includes eight children, 19 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren, plus several close friends who became family. She was married for 56 years to the love of her life, John F “Jack” Grant, and they remained one until his passing in 2008. Shortly after, she took an independent residence at Smith Village in the Beverly Neighborhood where she enjoyed time with so many of her neighbors and friends.

Betty was the devoted mother of Hon. Rosemary Grant Higgins, Gayle (John) Martschinke, John W. Grant, (US Navy Veteran) Kevin (Ret. CFD) (Carole) Grant, Timothy (Mary) Grant, Elizabeth A. Grant, late William (CFD L.O.D.D.) (Sharon) Grant, and Thomas Grant.

Adored Grandmother of 19:
Finbar (Molly) Higgins, Elizabeth (Pat Coughlan) Higgins, Connor (Claudia Carlucci) Higgins, Sean (Emily) Martschinke, Mike (Melissa) Martschinke, Tom (Shannon) Grant, Annie (Jimmy) O’Connell, Melissa Grant, Elyse (Mike Smith) Littleton, Erin Grant, Jack Grant, Katie Grant, Paxton (Mike) Kennedy, Liam (Megan) Bahr, the late Grant Bahr, Aileen Bahr, Kristin Grant, Caroline Grant, and Daniel Grant.

Doting Great-Grandmother of 12:
Mack, Anna Grace, Mikayla, Teddy, Georgie, Brayden, Owen, Collins, Flynn, Reilly, Easton and Calum

Betty was preceded in death by her loving parents, William and Anna Mary Faulkner and sisters Mary (Carl) Rosenbaum, Frances (Rick) Counts, and Cecelia Tilsley.

She as a cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews and dearest friend who several who became like family.

Visitation Saturday, February 5, 2022 from 1:oo p.m. until Mass of the Resurrection at 3:00 p.m.

Interment Monday, February 7, 2022 at Holy Sepulcher Cemetery, 6001 W. 111th Street. Friends can meet the family 10:30 a.m. at the main cemetery office off 111th Street to proceed to the service.

In lieu of flowers donations to Chicago Fire Department Gold Badge Society, 3400 W. 111th Street, Chicago, IL 60655 or Turning Pointe Autism Foundation, 1500 W. Ogden, Naperville, IL 60540 would be appreciated.
