Obituary for ELLEN B. SHUMARD
SHUMARD, ELLEN B. We celebrate the life of Ellen B. Shumard, who passed away peacefully on 25 February 2009 at the age of 83, after a long battle with Cancer. Ellen is remembered for many things, a Lieutenant in Women’s Air Force, going back to school to earn her bachelor’s and master’s degree at 49 years old, a gold star wife, but mostly she is remembered for her life. Ellen lived her life to the fullest. Many people measure their life by their possessions, Ellen measured hers by her accomplishments and those of her children. As a widowed single parent, she raised her children to become caring, loving and productive members of the community. She had five children, Christopher, Theresa, Gerald, Richard and Charles, ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Visitation Saturday February 28th from 3:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Robert J. Sheehy & Sons Funeral Home, 9000 W. 151st Street, Orland Park. Interment Private.
