Schultz, Clarence Age 97

Clarence W. Schultz died Friday, April 16, 2021 at his home in Palos Heights, Illinois. He was born on October 30, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois, son of the late Clarence F. Schultz and Frances M. Malewski Schultz. Clarence grew up in Chicago and attended numerous Chicago South Side elementary schools including McKay, Sawyer, Shields and Tonti. At Harper High School in Chicago, he met his forever sweetheart, Margaret “Peggy” Faber. During World War II, he attended Carleton College while serving in the US Army Intelligence Corps. After the war on October 19, 1946, “Schultz” and Peggy were married at St. Rita Church in Chicago. For 74 years and until Peggy’s death in 2020, they shared a lifetime of love and devotion. In 1957, they moved to Orland Park where they raised their family and became active members of St. Michael Church. Clarence worked for 45 years for AT&T holding various technical and management positions within the telephone equipment maintenance sector of the Bell System. He was known as an expert at crossbar switching systems for local and long distance telephone networks. After retirement he built a summer “castle” in South Haven, Michigan, where together, Schultz and Peggy enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He will always be remembered as a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend.

He is survived by five children: Terry (Kathi) Schultz, Kathy (Scott) Bonnar, Karen (Robert) Brusich, Kim Abello and Peg (Tom) Erickson; thirteen grandchildren: Ali, Nora, Karolyn, Maggie, Alyce, Matthew, David, Clare, Stephanie, Kerry, Katelyn, Megan and Tommy; and four great-grandchildren: Josie, Lanie, Charlie and Ella. Clarence was preceded in death by his sister, Lorraine Schultz.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Basil Church, 513 Monroe Blvd., South Haven, MI 49090.

Visitation private.

Family and Friends to gather for Mass of the Resurrection Tuesday, April 27, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Michael Church, 14327 Highland Ave., Orland Park, IL. A live stream to the Mass will be available prior to the Mass.
