Obituary for Angelina Oblena

Angelina (Nina) Denise Oblena was born on January 16, 1970 to Juan Villagomez and Wanda Jones in Chicago Heights, Illinois. She attended Bloom High School but transferred and graduated from Hillcrest High School. In 1988, she was wed to Dexter F. Oblena and they relocated to Elmendorf Air Force Base Alaska. To this union three children were born, Antonio, Aaron and Cameron. As a child Nina professed a belief in Christ and rededicated her life to Christ in 2012 while attending Christian Life Center.

She lived on Elmendorf Air Force Base Alaska for six years before settling in Orland Hills. Her love for children led her to a fulfilling job where she worked at Children’s World Learning Center. Nina really cared for the children she had in her care and touched many young lives.Parents were comfortable knowing their children were in good hands in Miss Nina’s class. She is truly an exemplary woman who loved her job. She was well loved by the children, their parents and her co-workers.

Nina loved to travel to new places. She loved dancing, shopping and also enjoyed decorating the home. She loved to watch The Home Shopping Network and purchase gifts early before birthdays and Christmas came around… so she would have the perfect present. She also loved watching scary, suspense-thriller movies and dramas. Her two favorite movies were “Grease” and “The Color Purple.” Though these movies attract vastly opposite audiences, that was just the type of person she was. She always surrounded herself with many different types of people from many different backgrounds.

Her proudest role was that of wife and mother. Nina loved her children dearly and was her husband truest friend. Nina’s home was filled with laughter, love and was always buzzing with activity. No matter what was going on, and no matter how busy things got, Nina was always ready to give big hugs and kisses. She always had enough love to go around, whether she was showing it to her husband, her kids, her nieces, her nephews and her friends. You have never met a more patient, caring and loving woman than Nina. She personally deposited compassion and caring in everyone’s lives that encountered her.

Nina leaves to mourn her husband Dexter F. Oblena, the sparks of her life her three children, Antonio F. Oblena, Aaron C. Oblena, Cameron J. Oblena. She leaves behind her parents Juan M. Villagomez and Wanda J. Jones and her father-in-law Jeremiah Oblena and mother-in-law Enriqueta Oblena. She leaves behind her siblings, Juan Jones, Benisa Mahone, Taco McCoy, LaTisha Riley, Reeshemah (Reginald) James, Jamice Banks and Roberto Villagomez. She also leaves behind her brother-in-laws, Marco (Leni) Oblena and Cyrus (Perla) Oblena. Nina also leaves a host of nieces and nephews and several beloved family and friends.
